JEM Youth Academy Tutoring Program was established with one goal in mind: to assist families with children from the ages of 5-15 years old through tutoring of essential skills.
These areas of focus include reading, writing and math skills. The program is there to also motivate children, to stimulate their intellectual skills and to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere where they can flourish. The program also focuses on helping children to stay engaged and excited about their school work through achievement and acknowledgment. There is extensive instruction for the children to prepare them for the F-CAT through integrated computer activities. The program also creates activities for the children during the summer with the help of local business support.
The ability for children to stay in school will further detract children from any involvement in criminal activities and instead pursue fruitful lives and careers. Not only through regular and consistent tutoring, but also through the visits to museums, parks, libraries and sports events the participating children will receive great benefits for the rest of their lives. The families participating in this program are selected upon need and do not pay for these services.
